Great for black guys

Bottom line: Great for black guys, top quality, and worth the additional bucks from the base model. I'm an African-American in the Air Force. With that being said I have to shave often, its the law. I typically use a set of Andis clippers to shave, in order to limit the amount of razor bumps and itching that quickly spawn hours afterwards if I had used a razor. I wanted a closer shave, that didn't leave a very slight prickly sensation after shaving with my clipper (my daughter flinches if she anticipates my scruff is going to graze her cheek during a hug--and she's still only an infant.) I've used one other electric shaver in the past, (I think was a Remmington) but it left my face on fire afterwards--so I gifted it to my dad and just relegated myself to the adequate-but-not-amazing Andis clipper. After reading some of the reviews left by other black guys on here, I decided to roll the dice and give the Braun 799cc a try. I elected for the wet/dry model because based off of past experience, I've noticed that the steam of a hot shower reduced the irritation for my skin during a shave. And, I figured if I'm going to spend upwards to $160 dollars on a shaver, spending an extra $50 for the more versatile model is a just a drop in the bucket. Sure, why not right? I purchased mine at Bath and Body Works with the massive 30% off coupon. For the record, they had both models there. One was clearly labeled the 799cc and the other was the 790cc. The build quality is great, doesn't feel cheap--and nor should it because it certainly wasn't cheap--its almost the price of an Xbox One for crying out loud. I've been using this shaver for the past week and I have had ZERO irritation with it. I'm still in disbelief to be honest.Read more ›

My husband had his doubts when he unpacked it..but he loves this razor! The shave is so close. His face is so smooth. The self cleaning feature is great! Worth the money.

Amazing shaver the closest shave compare to a blade in an electric. ... and has pop up sideburn and mustache trimmer and when done just replace into charging dock and it also washes it.....best wet dry shaver period!..... I highly recommended it.

This is an excellent shaver. I have difficulty using blades because of old damage to my face and resulting thin skin there. This shaver glides over the skin and cuts the beard and doesn't cause cuts or chafing. It is comfortable and efficient. I love it. It seems to be sturdy, and the self cleaning mechanism works well. I love the travel case too and the shaver's ability to plug directly to the wall for charging. I have always found Braun products to be of exceptional quality.

I will never buy another product to shave my head. I actually did not buy this here on amazon though, you can get it at BBB for $249, and if you use their 20% coupon you can get it for $200. Great deal for a superior product. I have been shaving my head off and on for years. I always quit shaving it because using a blade is so time consuming and I could never find an electric shaver that could do the job. Well I'm here to tell you that this is the one. I honestly toyed with the idea of purchasing the model 9. After reading hundreds of reviews I chose the model 7. I like the head configuration. I have a beard. I like to keep my neck clean shaven. I let everything go for about 3 weeks.I trimmed my beard (I like to keep it close) The hairs on my neck were long. My normal routine would have been to clip the hairs with a clipper then shave. Testing how well the series 7 cuts long hairs I just shaved my neck. Didn't pull, didn't bog down, it worked wonderfully. I was very impressed. The shave head looks like it is designed for cutting long hairs and it does a wonderful job. I recommend this shaver and would not hesitate to buy it again

Excellent Razor--Even with the High Price

Excellent razor after break-in period. I was not happy with the early shaves but after about three (3) weeks, when my beard was acclimated, the shaves were superb. The wet shave option is great for a quick morning shave in the shower.

Works great! Great close shave! It's expensive, no doubt about it, and not too cheap to maintain, either, if you buy the CCR cleaning/lubricating kits. Still, given the way it performs, it's worth the price. If you like the closeness of blade shaving, but like the convenience of electric shaving, this is the product for you. My beard is not particularly heavy, so depending upon how heavy a beard your have, YMMV. While it says that it's a Wet/Dry shaver, the instructions say that for best results, you should start with a dry beard. I've had to change my morning routine a bit, since with other Wet/Drys, I have shaved while showering - cost and slight change of routine are not enough to knock it down to a 4 star rating. Hope this helps.
