Highest quality, hand bound silvertip badger hair shaving brushes, manufactured in Germany by the Da Vinci factory. Family owned and operated since 1880, Da Vinci is the only green brush factory in the world. Series 290 is 25mm and is part of the Uomo shaving line. Comes in a luxury gift box and has a black Perspex, globular handle with a chrome setting. Brush stands solidly. The silvertips come from selected awn hairs which are extremely elastic and have fine tips.

I have been a wet shaver for many years and have over thirty shaving brushes of all types. I have been blessed to own many fine high end brushes and count this brush among the finest in my collection. I was hesitant to purchase this brush at first since I had not heard of this brand, but a little research and a favorable comment on a wet shaving forum led me to purchase this brush. It has not disappointed in any way. Right out of the box I could tell that I held a very high quality product. The finish was flawless and the Silvertip Badger hair was beautiful and dense. The handle felt comfortable and natural in my hand and I could hardly wait until morning to give it a go. The first use was luxurious and extremely enjoyable in every way. I have used this brush with high end creams and soaps, as well as modestly priced products and vintage soaps and I have found that it lathers all of the products equally well. It lathers all of the shave sticks that I have superbly as well. This is a large brush that has a wonderful feel on the face. I face lather almost exclusively and love the feel of this luxurious, quality brush and look forward to using it in rotation with my other fine brushes. I have had this brush for about two years and it has not lost any hair and maintains its excellent qualities to this day and I expect it to do so for many years to come. I have been so pleased with this brush that I have purchased two of their other brushes and have had the same great experience. If the time comes that I would have to thin out the number of my brushes, this would definitely be a survivor of the cut. Great brush, you still need a stand.

The "stand" that it comes with is an L shaped piece of plastic that has two spots of adhesive on the back, which you are supposed to stick onto a tile in your shower. This is the only reason this brush gets a 4 star, I would have liked an actual stand. I'll be getting one separately. In case anyone is thinking of making their own, or finding a stand, the silver portion OD is1 and 5/16 of an inch. This is the hole size needed to fit perfectly in a stand. There's no comparison to any other brush I have ever utilized. This one is smooth, delivers the soap evenly and sets up my hairs better than all the others. The workmanship and density is superior. Even the size fits better in the shaving soap containers. It is a soap hog, and I can live with that, just fine. Overall, easily the winner in all categories of use, quality, consistency and effectiveness...plus elegance. LOVE IT!!! The only one I now use. I was so pleased with the Da Vinci 290 that I thought I would give this brush a try and I am glad that I did. Like the larger version, this is a brush of the finest quality and superb craftsmanship. The silvertip hair, which is my favorite, is of the finest quality. While this brush is smaller than the 290 it is not a small brush by any means. It is a luxurious brush with excellent backbone that performs exceedingly well with any shaving cream or soap in my possession. I always look forward to using this brush and often reach for it ahead of its turn in rotation with my other fine brushes. I have been a wet shaver for many years and have used and used up many brushes over those years and I can say that the Da Vinci brushes are among the finest brushes I own and I have many fine brushes including some outstanding limited editions. DA Vinci Uomo Oh my!

Right out of the beautiful box that it comes in one can see that this is a very well-made product. Upon first glance it looks small but that is deceiving Good beautiful black Perspex handle fits perfectly in my palm. In this country Perspex is actually Lucite. The brush Weighs a nice 414 g so it's by no means a lightweight. The knot is 22 mm and the loft is 55mm. So aesthetically is just a gorgeous brush. Now for the shave only used it once but let me tell you this is an amazing feeling on your face it is so soft and unlike my other boar and badger brushes I cannot feel the pricking of the ends on my face. The brush really sucks up a lot of water and make lathering a breeze. it is pure luxury lathering either in the bowl or on your face with this brush. Buying this brush through Amazon I believe that I received the best price available. Shipping was fast I believe it took four days from ordering to receiving it. This will be my go to brush it is the best one I've had in my wet shaving experience I will post an update as I continue to use this brush I'm sure it can only get better. If you're thinking of a silvertip badger brush get this you won't be disappointed! UDATE: October 2015 So I've been using this for six months now and I find that it's starting to shed. I'm losing about 5-6 hairs every shave. Strange that it took six months for this to happen. Still like it thought. Also I've come to realize that a little more backbone would be better on this brush ,for me anyway. Otherwise, still a great brush. Oh. And the price just dropped by $20.
