Package Type: Standard Packaging Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? ) Many, many years ago - I was a dedicated Norelco user. I owned several shavers and passed them on to my sons when they were old enough to use them. Then I tried the Panasonic shavers and I made the switch and I have been using Panasonic for the past decade or so. When this shaver came available for me to try I was happy to do so; after all I could compare it with a few recent Panasonic and some older Norelco's. So here goes.. This is definitely not top of the line. It has almost 100% plastic parts which while it is light weight it feels kind of cheap. The shaver is put together well enough but I wonder just how long it will hold up. Also, it seems like the battery is somewhat small. There is not a huge amount of output so the motor seems to operate at slightly lower than optimal speed. This being said, there is no difference between corded & cordless shaving and regardless of how it "seems" to run, it shaves just fine. I have to say this is one of the quickest, most comfortable shaves I have ever had. I think I am back to being a Norelco man after this experience. I like the way the heads float on my face, especially around the chin, mouth area and under my nose. There is absolutely zero burn with this shaver, no matter how aggressively you may push it around. It charges fast, but overnight is needed for a full charge. And it runs for at least a week (shaving once each morning). The trimmer works as good as any other shaver. All in all, I like it, I just wish it had a beefier motor and more battery capacity. If I were to lose this model, I would certainly consider replacing it, only I would likely go for a better model. I tried several Norelco shavers in the past, including the old 8000 and 9000 series and the subsequent 3D-headed shavers (without the integrated trimmer). Of those, I liked the 9000 series most. But once I started buying replacement heads more recently, I found that they are no good, nowhere close to the quality of the original heads. The poor quality of Norelco's replacement heads seems to be a part of their business model. So I ended up with a couple of formerly high-end shavers that I only can equip with terrible replacement heads. Norelco essentially forced me to give up on my favorite model (9195XL) and buy a new unit. Disappointed, I considered abandoning Norelco altogether, but I do like their rotary shavers. I figured that if, from now on, I am going to need to buy a new shaver every couple of years, I'd try this basic model. I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised.
