This Is as Good as it Gets

By W. Andres on December 7, 2013 Package Type: Frustration-Free Packaging Verified Purchase This is about as good as it gets when shaving with an electric shaver and I've had them all (Panasonic 8243A, Norelco Sensotouch 3D 1280, Norelco AT895, Braun Series 7 760). Why so many shavers? I have a passion for electric shavers and when a new shaver comes out, I generally have to try it. I've been shaving now for 50 years so this is not something I come to without experience. I read some negative reviews and invariably they reveal one thing: ignorance of the shaving process so permit me to share a bit of what I've learned. First off, all modern electric shavers are going to deliver the goods, albeit some may be more irritating to the face/neck than others. In general you will find that it takes at least three weeks for your face to adjust to the new shaver so persevere and do not go back and forth with your older razor/shaver. Shave against the grain and using a foil like this Braun, shave in straight motions and at 90 degrees to the face. There is no need for any pre-shave but it is important to shave in relatively dry conditions in order to achieve good glide with the shaver. I find that shaving a half hour after my shower provides the best overall shave, however if that is not an option, shave before showering. With a Braun you press the shaver moderately against the face unlike a Norelco which requires a very light touch. If you press too hard you're going to end up irritating your face and neck. Finally, shave until your face "looks" clean rather than "feels" smooth. The problem with the latter is that you'll continue to shave too long in order to achieve that baby butt smoothness and this will result in irritation. Eventually as your face adjusts to the new shaver you can lengthen the shave and shave to that smooth feel, about ten minutes.Read more › 3 Comments 8 people found this helpful.
