Verified Purchase A single foil shaver that delivers a good shave IF you prep properly. Are you are getting rid of your thirty day beard? If so this is not the correct tool. Get a double edge razor and save the wear on your electric shaver. This is a great every day hair maintenance tool for your face. It doesn't have a twin foil with a middle chopping blade so please don't expect it mow down a lush lawn of hair. It's my recommendation you use Shave Secret and your favorite shaving gel to get the perfect shave. Use the Shave Secret on the razors foil (I use it instead of the included Braun oil) and on your face (its designed purpose per manufacturer). The oil allows the electric razor to glide over your face while the shaving gel raises your beard. The reason for adding the oil to the foil is to prevent premature blade wear and it also helps the blade speed by lubricating the foil to blade contact area. You can hear the difference when the blade is out of oil. Yes, I shave wet...always. This is a wet and dry shaver and I have never had an issue with water damage. This is my fourth purchase of this particular type of Braun single foil design. The life limiting factor of the razor is always the battery. It just gets weak after about 2-3 years of use. This razor makes $$$ sense. Compare the cost of this razor to the gizmo-out units. It's far cheaper to replace the entire unit and get a fresh battery AND foil for a fraction of what you pay for a high priced model. From my experience neither the foil nor the battery last any longer on the high priced model. The only question to ask is how long a beard do you plan on shaving? If you typically have several days of growth and want to cut it off with an electric razor then this is NOT your model.
