Philips Norelco Shaver 4600
Philips Norelco Shaver 4600
Great upgrade to previous Norelco
By Howard Nemerov on February 3, 2016
This Norelco gave me the closest shave yet, and I've been a Norelco fan for about 30 years. Before that, I tried vibrating cutting block design shavers, and razors. (Yes, some prefer Braun and similar offerings, and I see no compelling reason to switch if it works.) I upgraded from a Norelco 1180X, which lasted many years. Finally, the on/off skin switch disintegrated, leaving me with my wife's Venus razor while I waited for my new Norelco. I'm pleased to see that the 4600's skin switch is made of sturdier material, reflecting technological progress I've seen in skin switches on other, newer devices. The 4600 is the quietest Norelco I've used, which may be important if you get up much earlier than your spouse and don't want to wake her. (Or perhaps you're a burglar taking a quick shave break to make sure you look good while stealing people's property, but you don't want them to wake up and call the cops.) The shave is closer and smoother, and takes less time than with my 1180X. The new blades seem more efficient. I usually apply Remington SP-5 SP5 Face Saver Pre-shaver Powder Stick (6 pack), which works very well with the Norelco 4600. In fairness, this is a wet or dry shaver, so I tried lathering my face with soap and hot water. That didn't do quite as well, but I wouldn't rule out using a shaving cream just to see the results. My 1180X had the capability of "locking" off by holding down the on/off switch until the orange light blinked. Then I had to hold down the switch for a few seconds until the shaver turned on.Read more ›

Impressive Bundle and Upgrade over the Philip 7310 (4yr old Model)
By Zen on January 17, 2016
OMG Yes, this is my upgrade from the older model: Philips Norelco 7310 Men's Shaving System Philips Norelco 7310 Men's Shaving System Comes with: - 2x sets of HQ2 Shaving Heads (one in the Unit and one in a Clam-Shell plastic Packaging) - 1x Clamshell/hardshell Case to hold the Shaving unit with Zipper. - 1x Shaving unit + 1x Plastic Cover to cover the shaving heads - 1x Proprietary Charger The main difference to note of upgrading to the 4600 (Current model) from the older 7310 (4yr old model). ===== Advantages ===== - Uses the same/or new HQ8 Shaving head replacements. (Warns not to swap the lifters with the cutters as this will cause the heads to not cut properly). New HQ8 replacements are up to $20. - LED Symbol indicators or Charging / Head Replacement (Great sharp LEDs, the old unit was simply a red/green light)(New Unit uses white/green/orange) - Tilt/pivoting head, easier on curves of the Jaw when shaving. - More Ergonomic Design overall (more of a personal preference, shiny plastic, Chrome highlights, etc). - Shaving head Cover (the top piece that holds the individual 3 shaving heads) is detachable from unit, for easy cleaning/maintenance/Head replacement. - Back side Trimmer is still the same. Did not notice much of a change but a more precise trim. - SuperCharge Mode: Offers a fast 5 min charge for 15 mins of use. - Just like the old model can be used in Shower/Bath. ===== Disadvantages ===== - Cannot be used while charging!Read more ›

Solid Norelco at Fair Price
By Amazon Customer on February 2, 2016
Pleasantly surprised to find this particular Norelco model (4600) and definitely appreciative when opening the sealed package to find an extra set of shaving heads!!! Since Norelco has radically increased the prices on traditional models and added top-shelf models that are astronomical in cost, this particular model has the longer battery life and quick charge feature along with fitting easily and safely in travel packs.

Great Electric Shaver at a moderate price.

Shaver works really well. Good quality construction. Suggestion - After cleaning the heads and letting it dry, give the heads a quick shot of silicone lubricant (be careful not to use a silicone spray that contains acetone - CRC).
