Great Shaver Not totally Sold on the SmartClean System

I decided after many years of reliable use to replace my still working Norelco 9160XL shaver with a Norelco with the 3D heads. I immediately noticed a much closer razor-like shave. Unlike my old shaver which snags hairs from my nose and face, this razor never pull hairs on my face. Any of the 3D series is a worthy upgrade in my opinion. The SmartClean system works great. I use it after every shave. I rinse the shaving heads in hot water before using the system. It does take about 4 hours to complete the drying cycle. The "replace cartridge" light came on after only 20 days of daily use. The SmartClean system will not run if the light is on. The container was still half full of CLEAN solution. The solution is suppose to last 2 months. This can get expensive. Not sure if you need to clean and lubricate every day. To extend the life of the cartridge, I thought about topping off the cleaning solution with Norelco's NQ200 Jet Clean solution. Even though I do not move the system the SmartClean system does leak a little fluid inside the case and on the counter.

You must remember this A kiss is just a kiss, a sigh is just a sigh. The fundamental things apply As time goes by. Perfectly smooth skin is the result after using this wonderful new shaver. No scratchy stubble to interfere with those kisses! Whew! The most fundamental thing as one ages is the appreciation of good things after seeing all the competition.. one often looks for the best! My first electric razor, the SensoTouch 3D 1290/42x, which I bought this past May, was the most modern, sleek and advanced razor I had ever seen. I had always wanted an electric shaver since I was a young man, but my skin was sensitive and an old dermatologist said wet shaving with a razor was the best way to go for me. It was the one toy I couldn't have. It was a toss up between the Braun and the Philips Norelco last May, but I did research and really wanted to give the Series 8000 (Sensotouch 3D) a try, as it looked like more advanced technology and was an unbelievably gorgeous shaver. Within a few weeks, I realized that the blades on the RQ12 head were too aggressive for my skin even after the 21 day adjustment period too often left me with such a bad razor burn around my neck, it looked as if had tried to hang myself and got rope burn on my neck... very embarrassing to say the least! I couldn't continue to enjoy the gorgeous tool, because it was not a good match for my skin type, and I knew I would miss the 3D head and it's wonderful design, but back to the store it went for a full refund (love BBandB!). I moved on, per thousands of 5 star reviews, to the Braun 790cc top of the line foil type shaver which I got here on Amazon, also for a great price.Read more ›
