I like stainless over carbon steels because they are cheaper and offer less maintenance than carbon because it won't rust out if you forget to oil it. You need to strop it more often, about every 5 shaves, but it's all a part of the straight razor ritual. I love it! Perfect size to learn with and the rosewood handle is the real deal. Excellent razor but defective case

The shave I got from this razor was amazing and the experience was great. The only complaint I have is with the case for this razor. The blade slides into a strap and has a little pouch the base sits in. That pouch is already starting to tear off and I've only had it open about 5 times. How I keep my boyish charm while staying masculine

The straight razor comes in a sleek and discreet fold out case with metal reinforcements to keep it safe in your travel bag - and also from little ones who might go rummaging through it. The razor itself is a beautiful polished wood body with a stainless steel metal blade - it is SHARP and incredibly it stayed sharp after multiple shaves. These blades can be resharpened but I was very pleased to see that it held its edge many many times after going over my beard, mustache, neck and rear neck areas. I do find that shaving with a straight razor is hard around the chin or other bumpy areas of the face. And I don't imagine this would work well for long hair, but its not my style so I may be mistaken. Paired with a good shaving cream and after shave balm, a straight razor will give you the best shave hands down. If you have not used one before, I would recommend checking out a few straight razor shaving how-to videos as a guide, and going slow!
