Honest review

I didn't get this free, nor did I get a discount to write an "honest Review". I baught the shaver from Japan and paid a premium price for it. It is a good shaver but not excellent. I have a couple of series 7 racers and frankly, like them as good in fact, better than the series 9 Braun. The series 9 is big and heavy, which is ok but, who needs that. It doesn't make the shave any better. I have several series 7 shavers, for travel and emergency and they all use the same cleaning system. Now comes the Series 9 and the cleaning system isn't compatable with otrher Braun shavers. Not good engineering I'd say. Most of the other "Honest Reviews" tested on a 3 day beard. Who shaves every 3 days? I tested daily shaves of the Series 9 vs daily shaves of the Series 7. I prefer the Series 7. The smaller size of the Series 7 shaver head gets into my facial features better and gives me a closer shave than the Series 9. The Series 7 is one heck of a good bargain now as well. Don't spend the big money. It's not worth it. Also, replacement heads are a lot cheaper on the Series 7. The fact that the Series 9 can't be used with the cord plugged in is frustrating if you forgot to charge it and need a quick fast shave.

Not the world's closest shave, but possibly the least (skin) irritating

Before I received the Braun 9090cc I had been debating switching back to an electric razor. I first started shaving with a Panasonic 2 foil electric, but when it burned up after trying to charge it in Europe, I switched to the Gillette fusion cartridge razors for the past 6 years. I have fairly sensitive skin, so the idea of an electric razor with less irritation was appealing to me. I lucked out and received the Braun 9090cc as a free product in return for an honest review from Bzzagent. I've been using the 9090cc for the past 4 weeks, I like to try to live with the product a while before passing judgement. My observations are as follows: Build Quality/Feel: This razor feels great in the hand and is easily the nicest I have ever owned. The materials feel very premium from the plastics to the rubberized grip on the back. The LCD is bright and displays everything you need to know about the status of the charge and if it needs to be cleaned or not (it tells me it needs cleaned after every single use). The razor head has 4 components, two foil cutters and two trimmers built in along with a beard trimmer that pops up through a slide on the back. The main head pivots and can be locked in place which is a very welcome feature for going over your neck. The razor is made in Germany and just feels solid and well made. The power cord is the traditional coiled type you get on most razors, what I don't like is the wall power adapter sticks straight out the socket with no option to fold down. It makes the cord (which powers the cleaning station as well) stick out of the wall 2 inches and gives a messier appearance. The cleaning station is also rather large and takes up a fair amount of counter space.Read more ›
