Very expensive, but a great shaver
By Alan E. Brownell on May 7, 2016
I have used just about every shaver on the market, and this is the best of them. My beard type makes rotary shavers useless to me, which is a shame because they are so much quieter than linear shavers. This new series 9 Braun is noticeably quieter than the series 8 shavers were. For that alone it is worth the money to me. I don't really think the new shaver head is any better than the old series 8 head though. This is my 3rd Braun shaver and I will probably stay with it for a while. My last shaver was a Panasonic Arc5. They are very quiet and shave very well when new, but as the heads wear they get much noisier, and the head life is very poor. You need to replace the heads every 6 to 12 months on the Panasonics and they are expensive! For anyone who was wondering, the cleaning station for the series 8 will not work with the series 9 even though it is almost identical. The cleaning cartridges work though. I gave up on the cleaning stations and began using canned air to clean the shaver. It works at least as well, is much cheaper and much faster.

This shaver was provided to me as part of a promotion from Braun. I have, for the past several years been using a rotary shaver, and swore by it. It was getting some age on it and was going to replace it soon. When I was offered the chance to try one of these Braun Series 9 shavers, I was a bit hesitant because I had always used a rotary and I was used to my old one. When I first tried it I was amazed at how smooth it was and how it didnt "pluck" like my rotary and other foil shavers I had used. I have included before and after pictures for you to see. It took half the time my rotary did to get a clean shave and there was NO skin irritation which is amazing because I have very sensitive skin. I would highly recommend this to anyone in the market for a new shaver. It provides a smooth, quick, and efficient shave unlike any I have used before. And a bonus is the fact that you can use it wet or dry! I know it is a bit pricey, but I can already tell I will be using this shaver for years. I have been using it for about 2 weeks and the battery doesn't even need charging yet. I am completely sold on it and I know you will be too, give it a try! You will not be disappointed!

Fantastisch elektrorasierer

Braun's latest series 9 electric shaver is one heck of a good looking shaver. It's got a good weight to it and it's comfortable to hold. I love the look of it, with the chrome shell and black accents. This looks like a razor a Cylon from Battlestar Galactica would use (if robots shaved at all). The internal and non-serviceable battery can last quite some time without charging it. I've used it for over a week daily and it used up only a bar of power, according to the LED readout. One of the features of this shaver is the claim for being 100% waterproof. While I haven't submerged it, it works just fine in the shower. I've had zero problems with razor burn or cuts, but then again, I only do wet shaving or post-shower shaving. The closeness of my shave was about as expected. It's very close, but still not as close as a non-electric razor. The head of the shaver pivots up and down. It doesn't roll/turn left and right. The travelling case only holds the shaver itself. There's no room for the power adapter, but you should be fine if you're travelling for less than a week with a full charge. I'm sure the big question is "does it perform any better than other electric razors?" The shave quality seems to be on par with my old school 3-series Braun, a razor at 1/6th the price. So unfortunately, no. However, the build quality and overall design are fantastic. For what you pay for, it doesn't disappoint in this area at all. If you're looking at razors in this price range, I think this is worth considering. Bar none, this is one of the best looking electric razors I've seen. This product includes an AC charger, storage bag, cleaning brush, and a user manual. Made in Germany. Note: I was offered this product for my truthful and impartial review. Products are judged on construction, quality, value, what they do, and how well they do it.

Braun Series 9 9093s ~ Superb shaver, but no better than previous model
By Expressed Reviews on November 5, 2015
This shaver was provided to me by BzzAgent in exchange for an honest review. I've used several electric shavers during the past few years, so I was really looking forward to putting this one through the paces. In that regard, there are both good and bad things to say about it. Prior to receiving this shaver, I was using, and continue to use the Braun Series 7-790CC. The most obvious difference between the 790-CC and this model, is that the former one comes with a self-cleaning charging station. Since that's an item that I've enjoyed, it's unfortunate that due to a new design, the shaver being reviewed here can't be placed into the old self-cleaning system. Obviously, this has nothing to do with the quality of the 9093s, but it's something to be aware of if you're contemplating using your old cleaning system with this shaver. For that, you'll need to spring for the 9090 or 9095-CC. As for the shaver itself, while it's ergonomically designed, and a pleasure to use, compared to my Series 7 shaver, I don't notice much of a difference. I was expecting there to be a tremendous difference between the two, as this updated model operates at a significantly faster speed. According to Braun, the Series 9 incorporates cutting elements that provide 40,000 cross-cutting actions per minute. The series 7 operates at a significantly slower speed. With that said, one would expect this shaver to greatly outperform it's predecessor, which unfortunately it does not. The series 7 shaver provides an excellent shave, albeit much better on the cheeks than on the neck and upper lip. In all honesty, the 9093s appears to provide an equal, but not better shave than the previous model. Due to the faster speed, the shaving time is reduced, but not dramatically so.Read more ›
