Glad I did

A lot of thought went into getting this puppy, even though I have been satisfied with all my previous Panasonic shaver purchases, and had been happily using the ES-LA63-S Arc4. But I had replaced the blades and foil several times on that model and there began to be diminishing returns. Either that, or my stubble -- already dense and fast growing to begin with -- was getting thicker. I was beginning to rip my skin up a bit trying to get a closer shave -- particularly on my neck and jawline. There were also stubborn stray hairs that repeatedly refused to surrender. I was wondering whether Braun had regained the lead and found that they had not, at least according to the most of the reviews I read. I know that shaving is hugely subjective and personal, but the reviews seemed to give the nod to Panny, even though Braun was an innovator in this space and still a great choice. In my mind, though, the only question was whether I would upgrade to the Panasonic ES-LV61-A, or to the top of the line LV65-S. Well, I'm glad I invested in the LV65-S. Been using it a few weeks now and it is the closest and quickest shave I've ever gotten. Huge head, quieter motor, longer battery life, and sharp, sharp, sharp. One happy customer with smooth skin.

The best shaver just got better
By David Arnstein on November 10, 2015
I have been using Panasonic shavers for years. In particular, I have been using a similar shaver for four years: Panasonic ES-LV81-K Arc5 Electric Shaver Wet/Dry with Multi-Flex Pivoting Head and Automatic Cleaning System for Men . Therefore, I can write a bit about durability. The old shaver still works great. It does not shave quite as closely as the new shaver (under review here) but it is still better than any shaver I know of. It is also possible that the new shaver is simply better, but I doubt it. Both shavers use the same "Arc5" blade system, and judging by the sound they make, both shavers have motors that operate at the same speed. Both shavers leave me free of skin irritation. The battery in the old shaver is still strong, it lasts me at least two weeks with daily use. It looks great too. One problem with the old shaver: the cleaning machine stopped working after a few years. But guess what: the new shaver does not feature a cleaning machine. Every Panasonic shaver I have owned has had a terrible pop-up trimmer, so I was not expecting much from the new shaver. But lo and behold, the trimmer on the new shaver is killer! It mowed the hair around my ears like crazy. Thanks Panasonic! I need to write a bit about the replacement blade kit. it is expensive! I replace mine once a year, and when I do, I get a faster shave. This indicates that I could replace the blades more frequently. If the cost is an issue for you, you can consider a Panasonic shaver that uses the Arc4 or Arc3 blade system. Less expensive, and still better than the competition. The shaver is water proof.Read more ›

Panasonic ES-LV65-S, pricey but doesn't disappoint
By Sharp Shopper on January 7, 2015
I've only had this a few days and I just finished my second shave with it. Don't let the four foils scare you away. It's not as big as it looks in the pictures. It's also pretty light. It charged to 100% fairly quickly out of the box, in only about 30 mins. When you shave it has a timer that counts up so you know how long it takes. I kinda like that. Reminds me of Denzel in "The Equalizer". You really have to know how top use an electric razor, on your own face, to get the best shave. I have learned to go in many different directions, and also to "wobble" it loosely on my skin as I push it along slowly. I think the perfect illustration is one of those old fashioned floor waxers you used to see janitors use in school. Sloppy circles, while lifting a little bit. Really gets very close without pressing too hard. I don't understand the reviews where men comment "Not as close as a blade, but almost..." I think if you use an electric razor well, it shaves every bit as close as a blade. But this last shave took me 6mins 27secs. So it's not that quick if I really want it "girlfriend" close. The clipper/trimmer is well positioned to cut the tiny hairs on my ears (I know gross - but what're ya gonna do?) and the multi-directional swiveling "gimble system" head is awesome. Comes with a nice zipper pouch, a clear plastic blade protector and of course the charger. But it doesn't come with a cleaning brush. WTF?? This thing was $350!!! And no cleaning brush, seriously?? But I have ones that work perfectly - the little Dr. Browns Natural Flow 4-pack baby bottle brushes. All the blades do not separate from the foil when you pop the shaving head off.Read more ›

The ES-LV65-S is no doubt the best electric shaver out there
By Tech Weenie on December 18, 2015
The ES-LV65-S is, in my mind no doubt the best electric shaver out there. It should be, based on its price. The shave it gives is smoother than any other shaver I have used, and I collect electric shavers and have tried many models from all the primary manufacturers. I have several Norelco's, Braun's, and Panasonics. I also recently purchased the Panasonic ES-LV61 A which is almost the identical 5 blade shaver except without the Shave Sensor Technology, which I've found to be fairly useless, at least with my somewhat wimpy beard. The workmanship on these devices is top-notch, as one would expect from units made in Japan. All the replaceable parts are easily removed and replaced when and if necessary. It is completely water tight and washable under running water. There is absolutely no need for any sort of "cleaner" apparatus. I can honestly say that I can go an entire day longer between shaves when I shave using either of these Panasonic shavers as compared to any of my Norelco or Braun shavers. That's just how close they shave. These shavers are the gold standard in "electric razors"! One warning though, the photos shown here on Amazon's site shows the shaver including a power plug adapter, a brush and a small bottle of whatever. These items were NOT included in the very small fitted box I received.
